Product Overview

Suede Mold Killer 3.6 by Leather Doctor is a suede-safe fungicide for killing, deodorizing, disinfecting, and controlling long-term mold growth activities.

With a pH value of 3.6Mold 3.6 effectively disinfects and eliminates musty odors caused by mold activity after thorough cleaning and decontamination.

It provides a comprehensive solution to restore and protect suede from mold-related damage while maintaining its natural integrity.

 What is Mold?

Mold is a type of fungus that appears as a fine, dusty growth on suede.
It is often accompanied by a musty odor and thrives in humid or poorly ventilated conditions.
Mold can cause discoloration, deterioration, and odor issues if not properly treated.

 How Does Mold Damage?

Mold damages suede by breaking down its organic structure, leading to biodegradation.
It feeds on the suede’s natural fat and oils (fatliquor), and protein fibers, causing dryness, stiffness, discoloration, and odor.
If left untreated, mold can weaken the suede fibers, leading to easily rip, deterioration, and permanent damage.

 How Does Mold Growth?

Mold grows when moisture, warmth, and organic material are present.
Suede, being a natural material, provides an ideal surface for mold when exposed to high humidity, poor ventilation, and damp conditions.
Mold spores settle on the suede and thrive by feeding on the natural oils and fatliquor, leading to musty odors, discoloration, and deterioration if not properly controlled.

 How Mold Control Works?

Mold control works by using antimicrobial treatments to eliminate active mold spores and prevent regrowth.
Similar to antibiotics, effective mold control requires a consistent treatment cycle, ideally every 6 to 8 months, to prevent re-occurrence.
Regular cleaning, maintaining proper humidity levels, and using Leather Mold Odor Killer 3.6 as a preventive measure help keep suede mold-free in the long term.

How to Prep Clean Mold on Suede?

Mold cleaning begins with removing, containing, and responsibly disposing of mold growth to protect health and the environment.
Residual mold is further removed using Eraser 5 for suede.
The affected suede is then deep cleaned with Leather Mold Cleaner 1.5, followed by Leather Acidifier 2.0 to neutralize residues and restore the suede’s pH balance.
If mold has caused sinking pit damage, it must be physically removed during the rinsing process.
After cleaning, re-finishing may be required to restore the suede’s original look and feel.

 Instruction:
