Product Overview

Leather Acidifier 2.0 by Leather Doctor is a pH 2.0 acidic rinse designed to control, neutralize, and restore leather’s natural pH balance. It prevents leather from denaturing, which can lead to bleeding, streaking, tackiness, and structural weakness due to alkaline overexposure.

Key Benefits:

Neutralizes alkaline contamination from cleaners, sweat, and body oils
Prevents dye bleeding and color streaking
Reduces leather tackiness and improves texture
Strengthens leather fibers and enhances structural integrity

When to Use Acidifier 2.0:

  • After exposure to alkaline products (incorrect cleaners, soap, ammonia, baking soda, etc.)
  • To rectify tackiness, dullness, or streaking from alkaline overexposure
  • To stabilize and restore the leather’s natural pH balance

Application Steps:

  • 1️⃣ Clean and Rinse the surface using a leather-safe Cleaner 3.8 follows with Rinse 3.0
  • 2️⃣ Apply Acidifier 2.0 with a towel or sponge, allowing it to penetrate
  • 3️⃣ Gently extract excess residue with a clean absorbent towel

Leather Acidifier 2.0 is essential for:

  • Aniline, Vachetta, Nubuck, Suede, and Full-Grain Leathers

Frequently Asked Questions

1 Why Does Acidifier 2.0 Come in Concentrate?

Acidifier 2.0 is formulated as a concentrate for the following benefits:

    1. ✅ Indefinite shelf life for long-term storage.
    2. ✅ Reduces risks of freezing damage during shipping and storage.
    3. ✅ Minimizes handling damages compared to pre-mixed liquids.
    4. ✅ Lowers shipping weight, making it more cost-effective.
    5. ✅ Easily diluted with distilled water before use for optimal performance.

2 How to Use Acidifier 2.0 as a Rinse?

  1. ✔ After brushing the leather surface with an appropriate brush, Acidifier 2.0 is applied as a surface rinse. Suspended soiling is extracted with a towel until a clean side of the towel no longer shows soil.

3 How to Use Acidifier 2.0 as a pH Balancer for Sticky Leather?

  1. ✔ Apply Acidifier 2.0 deep into the leather after rinsing, allowing it to dwell so it can neutralize alkaline residues. Extract suspended residues with a towel.
  2. ✔ Repeat the application until a finger test reveals a healthy, squeaky feel, indicating proper pH balance restoration.

4 How to Use Acidifier 2.0 to Control Excessive Dye Bleeding?

  1. ✔ Apply Acidifier 2.0 and allow it to dwell, neutralizing excess foreign residues. Rinse off the excess.
  2. ✔ Repeat the application, extracting with a towel until dye bleeding is significantly reduced.

5 How to Use Acidifier 2.0 to Control Brightening Streaking from Harmful Cleaners?

  1. ✔ Apply Acidifier 2.0 and brush the surface using an appropriate brush to break down and neutralize harmful residue. Towel extract the suspended residue.
  2. ✔ Repeat the process, brushing and towel extracting until brightening streaks are reduced.

6 What Is the Purpose of a Dwell Time with Acidifier 2.0?

  1.  ✔ Allowing Acidifier 2.0 to dwell gives it sufficient time to neutralize pH-related side effects, such as alkalinity damage, tackiness, dye bleeding, or streaking.

7 How Does Acidifier 2.0 Work?

  1. ✔ Acidifier 2.0 works by protonating and positively charging (+ve) leather protein fibers, increasing their ability to bond with negatively charged (-ve) leather components, such as:
    • Tanning agents → Prevents leather from denaturing into stickiness.
    • Dyestuff → Reduces dye bleeding.
    • Fat and oil molecules → Prevents migration that leads to leather becoming stiff and cracking when dry.

By restoring the leather’s natural pH balance, Acidifier 2.0 ensures structural integrity, color stability, and long-term durability.

Your opinions and insights are precious and will help us solve your leather problem more efficiently.
