How to Use Primer 73 in Leather Restoration
Strip-Cleaning Unwanted Finishes Before Primer 73
Step 1: Apply Deglazer 2.3 to the surface to dissolve unwanted finishes.
Step 2: Rinse thoroughly with Rinse 3.0.
Step 3: Allow to dry and inspect for uniform darkening (a sign of good absorption and readiness for Primer 73).
Removing Deteriorating Leather Grain
Apply Primer 73 directly to the deteriorated areas.
Work the product in using a Strip Brush 9, white scouring pad, and optionally, fine 1500/2000 grit sandpaper.
Wipe clean with a white lint-free towel.
Continue until no residue appears on the towel.
Repairing Abraded Surfaces
For light abrasion:
Apply Primer 73 using a suitable brush.
Wipe off excess.
Let dry naturally or use a blow dryer.
When nearly dry, compress the area with a smooth spatula.
For heavier abrasion:
Use Leather Abrasion Repairer R4 after Primer 73 as needed.
Repairing Heavy Abrasions or Flaps
Heavy abrasion/opening flap:
Requires Leather Abrasion Repairer R4.
Stick-out flap, rip, or tear:
Requires Leather Glue 3D to bond and secure the damage.
Activating Aniline Dyestuff
Apply Primer 73 to the affected areas.
Wipe clean to improve appearance.
Use a spatula or spoon to stretch and lighten darkened areas.
Remove surface build-up using 1000/2000 grit sandpaper as needed.
Ensuring Proper Sealing & Adhesion
Apply Primer 73 evenly using Leather Brush 1 or a white 3M scouring pad.
Work it into grooves and worn areas.
Wipe off excess until a lint-free towel shows clean.
Allow to dry naturally or speed dry.
For darkening areas, stretch gently with a spatula or spoon to even out appearance.
Tip:
Always test on a small inconspicuous area to confirm desired results before full application.
