Product Overview
Leather Urine Odor Remover Kit L5.uk by Leather Doctor® Complete Leather Decontamination System for Absorbent Leathers Affected by Urine Stains and Odors.
Kit L5.uk is a leather-safe, pH-sensitive system developed to clean, decontaminate, recondition, and protect absorbent leather affected by urine stains—whether from pets, children, or incontinence—using tannery-based science. It systematically restores leather from sticky, stiff rawhide-like deterioration back to healthy, supple leather.
Why is Kit L5.uk Essential for Decontaminating Urine?
Urine contamination, especially when aged, shifts leather's pH from its natural acidic state (pH 3–5) to an alkaline environment. This chemical imbalance denatures the leather's protein structure—causing tackiness, dark stains, odor, and stiffness as fatliquor leaches out. The L5.uk Kit reverses this damage holistically, restoring pH balance, softness, and appearance—just as tanneries stabilize leather during production.
Understanding Aging Urine Contamination on Leather
Urine odor becomes increasingly pungent as bacterial activity produces ammonia and urea.
Tanning agents may surface, leaving dark, streaky stains and causing tackiness.
Fatliquor (natural fats and oils) can migrate and coagulate on the surface, appearing cloudy or sticky known as leather spew.
Alkaline pH shift weakens the leather’s amphoteric protein fibers, leading to denaturing, stiffness, and cracking.

Leather Urine Cleaner 1.5 by Leather Doctor® is a pH 1.5 balanced specialty urine cleaner and neutralizer from reverting the leather into a sticky rawhide.
Urine Cleaner 1.5 is a water-based urine pre-cleaner working in conjunction with Urine Killer 2.1 depending on the severity of the urine contamination.
When contamination is odorous and discolored, proceeding with Urine Killer 2.1 is mandatory to achieve the desired result.
However, displaced original fat and oil will need to be replenished for suppleness.
Leather Acidifier 2.0 by Leather Doctor® is a pH 2.0 acidifier formulated to rinse, control, neutralize, and restore leather’s natural pH balance.
Acidifier 2.0 prevents leather from denaturing, which can lead to bleeding, streaking, tackiness, and structural weakness due to alkaline overexposure.
Leather Urine Odor Killer 2.1 by Leather Doctor® eliminates, neutralizes, pH balances, and suspends the ammonia and alkaline phosphorus salt found in urine.
Urine 2.1 is a professional-grade, leather-safe decontamination solution that neutralizes urine odors, and prevents leather damage caused by urine exposure.
How Does Urine 2.1 Work?
Neutralizes ammonia and alkaline salts that cause 'reverse-tanning'.
Corrects the pH back to the healthy acidic range (3-5) to prevent denaturing.
Odor dissipates as the leather dries, thanks to the chemical reaction with the salts.
Leather Soft Cleaner 3.8 by Leather Doctor® is a leather-safe, pH 3.8 mild cleaner formulated to effectively emulsify and lift general soiling without causing common side effects.
Soft 3.8 is among the mildest of cleaners with a lower cleaning power than Strong 4.3 and Super 4.9.
Why Choose Soft 3.8?
Soft 3.8 is the mildest among the Leather Doctor's range of cleaners which is safe for all leather, Nubuck, and Suede.
Always test clean with Soft 3.8 and evaluate the result to your satisfaction before progressively increasing the cleaning power to Strong 4.3 or Super 4.9.
Accumulated soiling may require the next level of Prep 4.4 or Prep 7.7 preparatory cleaners.
Penetrated body oil, grease, and sweat requires Degreaser 2.2 and is rinsed with Acidifier 2.0.
Provides the “just right” strength—a balance between under-cleaning and over-cleaning.
Part of a holistic leather-safe system: always follow rinsing with Rinse 3.0
Leather Rinse 3.0 by Leather Doctor® is a pH 3.0 leather-safe rinse formulated to remove suspended soil and restore the pH balance of leather, ensuring its structural integrity and long-term durability.
Rinse 3.0 Key Features & Benefits:
Removes Suspended Soil – Lifts and extracts emulsified soiling for a clean, residue-free finish.
Neutralizes Alkaline Residue – Restores pH balance to prevent damage from alkaline overexposure.
Prevents Tackiness & Dye Bleeding – Stabilizes the leather structure, reducing unwanted texture changes.
Enhances Leather’s Ionic Charge – Recharges the leather with a positive (+ve) charge, improving its ability to bond with negatively (-ve) charged tanning agents, dyestuff, and fatliquor.
Preserves Suppleness & Durability – Helps maintain the leather’s softness, preventing stiffness and cracking.
Leather Hydrator 3.3 is a leather-safe pH 3.3 aqueous surfactant solution formulated by Leather Doctor® to clean, hydrate, relax, and restore the leather’s internal structure during cleaning, conditioning, and restoration processes - in line with its tannery science-based function.
It mimics the hydration stage of tannery pre-conditioning to prepare leather for deeper structural rejuvenation.
Hydrator 3.3 Key Benefits:
Rehydrates dried, stiff, or collapsed fiber structure
Restores moisture to the leather’s protein fibers, relaxing them so they can regain flexibility.
Essential before fatliquoring (with Fatliquor 5.0) so fats and oils can penetrate deeply and bond properly.
Displaces and flushes out impuritie
Helps suspend and wick out residual body oils, sweat, soiling, or alkaline contamination that may have penetrated the leather.
Balances pH and readies leather for further treatments
The mild acidic pH of 3.3 re-aligns the ionic charges of the leather structure, making it receptive to fatliquor and protecting against pH damage.
Helps reduce stiffness and restore suppleness
When used alone or in conjunction with fatliquor, Hydrator 3.3 is critical for achieving uniform softness, without patchiness.
Tannery science basis
In professional tanning and retanning, hides are hydrated before fatliquoring to ensure that treatments penetrate evenly and bond effectively.
Hydrator 3.3 replicates this essential tannery hydration step at the restoration stage, particularly for dried-out, stiff, or aged leather.
Leather Scent Fatliquor 5.0 Plus by Leather Doctor® is a pH 5.0 scent fat and oil conditioner that softens all leather, suede, and hair-on-hide from dryness, stiffness, and prevents cracking.
Replenish. Soften. Strengthen.
Bring your leather back to life with a conditioning treatment that restores suppleness and leaves behind a clean leather scent.

How-To:
- Apply Protector B Plus onto a lint free towel and spread evenly.
- Allow to air dry.
- Ready to use once dry.
Why Does This Process Mimic Modern Tannery Science?
Tanneries stabilize leather at pH 3–5 to preserve the protein structure and lock in fatliquor. When leather is exposed to alkaline substances like urine (pH 9–11), it reverts to its rawhide state. The L5.uk Kit restores tannery chemistry at the molecular level:
Cleansing: pH 1.5–3.8 cleaners dissolve and emulsify urine salts.
pH Control: Acidifiers re-establish acidity for structural stability.
Hydration: Rehydrates dry, brittle fibers and flushes out embedded waste.
Fatliquoring: Replenishes lost oils for flexibility and durability.
Protection: Seals in softness and scent, making leather ready for daily use.
