Why Saddlery Leather Needs Internal Replenishment
Horse saddlery is exposed to conditions that gradually deplete its internal fat and oil content.
These include:
- repeated perspiration exposure
- rain and environmental wetting
- drying from sun and airflow

Why Hydrator 3.3 Comes First
- Fatliquor 5.0+ works most effectively after the leather has first been treated with Hydrator 3.3.
- Hydrator 3.3 relaxes the leather structure, opens up the inter-fibrillary spaces, and facilitates more even movement of colloidal water throughout the leather.
- This relaxation stage improves receptivity so the replenishing fat and oil in Fatliquor 5.0+ can be absorbed more thoroughly and more evenly.
- Hydrator 3.3 is not used to leave lasting moisture in the leather.
- Its purpose is to prepare the structure for effective replenishment.
- Once the fatliquoring process is complete, the water carrier evaporates, leaving the replenished fat and oil within the leather structure.

Instructions
- Relax → Replenish → Refine & Preserve
1️⃣ Step 1 — Prepare the Leather
- Complete cleaning and rinsing first using the appropriate Leather Doctor® products.
- If required, complete corrective steps such as Acidifier 2.0 or Dye Fix 2.8 before replenishment.
2️⃣ Step 2 — Relax the Structure
- Apply Hydrator 3.3 first to relax the leather fiber structure and improve receptivity.
- Allow sufficient dwell time for the leather to become properly relaxed before proceeding.
3️⃣ Step 3 — Dilute
- Dilute Fatliquor 5.0+ with distilled water according to the recommended ratio.
- Shake well before use.
4️⃣ Step 4 — Apply
- Apply evenly to the leather using a sponge, towel, or appropriate applicator.
- Apply to complete panels or sections for even absorption.
5️⃣ Step 5 — Allow Absorption
- Allow the leather time to absorb the replenishing fat and oil into the fiber structure.
- Additional applications may be required for very dry or depleted leather.
6️⃣ Step 6 — Dry Naturally
- Allow the leather to dry naturally.
- Do not force dry with heat.
7️⃣ Step 7 — Refine & Preserve
- After replenishment is complete and the leather is dry, apply Conditioner 3.2 or Conditioner 3.2+ Leather-Scented Edition to refine the surface feel and support long-term preservation.
