Saddlery Super Cleaner 4.9 (Super 4.9) by Leather Doctor® is a super-duty, Leather-Safe™, water-based, pH 4.9 cleaner designed for heavily soiled horse saddlery, especially high body-contact areas exposed to sweat, grease, and environmental buildup.
It delivers stronger cleaning power than Strong 4.3, making it ideal for neglected or deeply contaminated saddlery.

When Super 4.9 Is Not Enough
Super 4.9 effectively removes heavy soiling such as dirt, sweat, and surface grease.
However, when contamination has penetrated deeper into the leather structure, such as:
- body oil saturation
- greasy or darkened patches
- persistent tackiness after cleaning
a dedicated degreasing step is required.
It delivers stronger cleaning power than Strong 4.3, while Degreaser 2.2 is reserved for deeper oil contamination beyond surface cleaning.
In these cases, use Degreaser 2.2 to break down and remove embedded oil contamination before continuing with the normal cleaning and rinsing process.
Progressive Cleaning System
For best results, always follow a progressive approach:
- Start with Soft 3.8 for light soiling
- Step up to Strong 4.3 for moderate buildup
- Use Super 4.9 for heavy contamination
- Use Degreaser 2.2 when oil and grease have penetrated deeply
Application Instructions
- Dilute 1:21 with distilled water
- Remove dry soil before application
- Apply evenly and agitate with appropriate brush
- Allow 3–30 minutes dwell time (do not dry)
- Blot with clean towel
- Rinse with Rinse 3.0
