Correct What Cleaning Cannot
When leather becomes unstable after cleaning, it needs correction—not more cleaning.
Saddlery Acidifier 2.0 by Leather Doctor® is a Leather-Safe™ pH 2.0 corrective treatment designed to restore the proper acidic environment after alkaline overexposure.
By correcting pH imbalance, Acidifier 2.0 restores natural leather response and prepares the leather for successful restoration.
Why Saddlery Acidifier 2.0 Works
Exposure to alkaline cleaners, soaps, residues, or excessive cleaning can disturb this balance and affect the leather's normal behavior.
When this occurs, leather may become:
- Tacky
- Sticky
- Draggy
- Unstable during restoration
Acidifier 2.0 restores the proper acidic environment, allowing the leather fibers to respond normally again.
What Acidifier 2.0 Does
Core Function
Corrects pH imbalance caused by alkaline exposure.
Deeper Function
When leather is exposed to excessive alkalinity, the fiber structure can become destabilized.
Acidifier 2.0 helps restore the leather's natural acidic environment, reducing tackiness, drag, and instability while preparing the leather for proper restoration.
Benefits
- Corrects alkaline overexposure
- Restores natural leather response
- Reduces tacky and sticky feel
- Corrects draggy surface condition
- Prepares leather for proper restoration
- Compatible with Hydrator 3.3 and Fatliquor 5.0
- Use only when imbalance persists after Rinse 3.0

System Flow
Cleaning → Rinse 3.0 → Acidifier 2.0 → Hydrator 3.3 → Fatliquor 5.0 → Conditioner 3.2
- Acidifier 2.0 is a conditional corrective step.
- It is used only when Rinse 3.0 alone is insufficient to restore proper leather balance.
When To Use Acidifier 2.0
Use when leather remains:
- Tacky after rinsing
- Sticky after cleaning
- Draggy or unnatural in feel
- Suspected of alkaline overexposure
- Imbalanced after Rinse 3.0
When Not To Use
Do not use:
- For routine cleaning
- As a replacement for Rinse 3.0
- When no signs of imbalance are present
- As a general maintenance product
Acidifier 2.0 is a corrective treatment—not a routine step.
Important Distinction
