Auto Leather Foam Cleaner 6.5
- Daily Leather Cleansing Foam for Modern Automotive Interiors
- Clean the everyday contamination. Preserve the finished surface.
Leather Doctor® Auto Leather Foam Cleaner 6.5 is a professionally formulated, low-moisture foaming cleanser designed specifically for modern finished automotive leather and smooth synthetic interior surfaces.
Its mild target pH of 6.5 is intended for routine maintenance cleaning of non-absorbent, factory-finished automotive surfaces where everyday dust, sweat, fingerprints, light body oils, and surface soil need to be removed without aggressive cleaning.
The rich foam provides controlled, low-moisture application for careful cleaning around perforations, ventilation holes, stitching, seams, and seat surfaces.
The Everyday Cleaning Step
Modern automotive interiors are exposed to daily contact from hands, skin, clothing, dust, and environmental contamination.
The purpose of Auto Leather Foam Cleaner 6.5 is simple:
- Loosen everyday surface contamination.
- Lift soil into the foam.
- Wipe away the working chemistry.
- Prepare the surface for rinsing and maintenance.
It is designed for routine cleaning, not intensive degreasing.
When excessive body oil, conditioner buildup, grease, or persistent sticky contamination has accumulated, use Auto Leather Degreaser 7.5 instead.
Why Auto Leather Foam Cleaner 6.5?
- Mild pH 6.5 for Routine Automotive Cleaning
Auto Leather Foam Cleaner 6.5 is formulated around a mild pH 6.5 for regular maintenance of modern finished automotive leather and compatible synthetic surfaces.
The objective is effective everyday cleaning without relying on strongly alkaline cleaning chemistry.
- Rich, Low-Moisture Foam
The foaming format produces a controlled layer of foam that helps keep the working moisture at the surface.
This is particularly useful when cleaning:
- Perforated seats
- Ventilated seats
- Stitching
- Seams
- Seat bolsters
- Headrests
- Armrests
- Other detailed interior areas
Do not flood the surface.
Controlled foam application helps reduce unnecessary saturation of perforations, stitching, and seat cushions.
Lifts Everyday Contamination
Auto Leather Foam Cleaner 6.5 is intended to help remove:
- Dust
- Sweat
- Fingerprints
- Light body oils
- Skin residue
- Everyday surface soil
- Light cosmetic contamination
- Other routine surface deposits
It is designed to leave the surface feeling clean and natural, without an unnecessarily heavy cleaning residue.
Designed for Modern Automotive Surfaces
Ideal for predominantly non-absorbent automotive interiors, including:
- Finished and coated automotive leather
- Pigmented automotive leather
- Non-absorbent smooth leather
- Vinyl
- Leatherette
- Vegan leather
- Other smooth synthetic automotive upholstery
Suitable examples include modern interiors such as Tesla, Mercedes-Benz MB-Tex, BMW Sensatec, and other finished automotive surfaces.
Always test an inconspicuous area first, as leather constructions and finishes vary.
Routine Cleaning vs. Intensive Degreasing
- Not every dirty leather surface requires an intensive degreaser.
STEP 1A — Auto Leather Foam Cleaner 6.5
- Use for routine maintenance cleaning when the surface is generally healthy but has accumulated normal daily contamination.
STEP 1B — Auto Leather Degreaser 7.5
Use when the surface has accumulated significant:
- Sebum
- Body oils
- Grease
- Conditioner buildup
- Oily care-product residue
- Persistent sticky or tacky contamination
This distinction helps prevent unnecessary intensive degreasing of a surface that only requires routine cleaning.
The Auto Leather System
Auto Leather Foam Cleaner 6.5 is the routine Step 1A of the Auto Leather system.
STEP 1A — Auto Leather Foam Cleaner 6.5
Routine Cleaning & Maintenance
↓
STEP 2 — Auto Leather Rinse 5.0
Rinse, Remove Working Chemistry & Stabilize

Intensive Cleaning Pathway
Auto Leather Degreaser 7.5 → Auto Leather Rinse 5.0 → Auto Leather Conditioner 6.0
How to Use
Step 1 — Apply the Foam
- Pump Auto Leather Foam Cleaner 6.5 onto a soft leather-cleaning Brush 1 or clean Microfiber Towel 3.
- Do not apply excessive product directly onto perforated or ventilated seats.
Step 2 — Clean Gently
- Work the foam over the surface using light, controlled motions.
- Allow the foam to lift the contamination rather than relying on aggressive pressure.
Step 3 — Remove the Working Foam
- Wipe away the dirty foam and lifted soil with a clean Microfiber Towel 3.
- Use a separate clean towel as needed until the surface is visibly clean.
Step 4 — Rinse
- Follow with Auto Leather Rinse 5.0 to help remove remaining cleaning chemistry, suspended soil, and working surfactant.
Step 5 — Dry & Inspect
- Allow the surface to dry naturally before evaluating the final condition.
- Once dry, determine whether Auto Leather Conditioner 6.0 is appropriate.
- Clean first.
- Rinse second.
- Inspect before conditioning.
Why Use a Foam?
Foam provides a controlled way to distribute a cleaning solution across a finished automotive surface without unnecessarily flooding it.
The objective is not maximum moisture.
The objective is:
Controlled application → Gentle cleaning → Efficient removal
This is especially useful around perforations, ventilation holes, stitching, seams, and other areas where excessive liquid should be avoided.
Clean Without Leaving a Heavy Film
- A routine automotive cleaner should not leave the interior feeling coated, greasy, sticky, or artificially shiny.
- Auto Leather Foam Cleaner 6.5 is intended to leave a clean, fresh, natural surface that is ready for the next stage of the Auto Leather system.
- After rinsing and drying, the surface can be properly assessed before deciding whether conditioning is needed.
When to Use Auto Leather Foam Cleaner 6.5
Use Auto Leather Foam Cleaner 6.5 for regular maintenance when the automotive interior has:
- Everyday dust
- Light sweat
- Fingerprints
- Normal skin contact
- Light body oils
- General surface soil
- Routine environmental contamination
It is especially appropriate for maintaining a previously cleaned and correctly finished automotive interior.
When to Step Up to Auto Leather Degreaser 7.5
Use the intensive Degreaser pathway when the surface becomes:
- Sticky
- Tacky
- Greasy
- Excessively shiny
- Darkened from accumulated oils
- Overloaded with conditioner or oily care products
Routine contamination → Foam Cleaner 6.5
Heavy oily/sticky contamination → Degreaser 7.5
What Auto Leather Foam Cleaner 6.5 Does Not Do
Auto Leather Foam Cleaner 6.5 is not intended to:
- Remove deeply accumulated oil buildup like Auto Leather Degreaser 7.5
- Repair cracking
- Restore abrasion
- Replace missing finish
- Reverse finish loss
- Repair structural leather deterioration
- Act as a conditioning treatment
- Restore permanently polished or worn finish
Its role is routine surface cleaning.
After Cleaning
- Do not automatically apply conditioner simply because the surface has been cleaned.
First:
- Clean → Rinse → Dry → Inspect
Then determine what the interior actually needs.
A clean surface may reveal:
- Dryness
- Stiffness
- Finish wear
- Abrasion
- Fading
- Cracking
- Finish loss
- Other changes requiring a separate treatment
When conditioning is appropriate, proceed with:
- Auto Leather Conditioner 6.0
The Leather Doctor Approach
- Restore the Leather. Refine the Surface.
- Good automotive leather care begins with using the least aggressive effective treatment.
- For routine contamination, start with:
Auto Leather Foam Cleaner 6.5
- When heavy oily or sticky contamination requires more intensive extraction, move to:
Auto Leather Degreaser 7.5
- Then:
Auto Leather Rinse 5.0
Dry and inspect before deciding on:
Auto Leather Conditioner 6.0
The objective is not to clean more aggressively than necessary.
Clean appropriately. Rinse completely. Inspect carefully. Then restore what the surface actually needs.

Important
- Always test on an inconspicuous area before full application.
- Do not flood perforations, ventilation holes, seams, stitching, or areas with known finish damage.
- Automotive leather and synthetic interior materials vary by manufacturer, age, wear, finish construction, and previous treatment.
- Select the cleaning pathway according to the present surface condition, not simply the material name.
