How To Use

Step 1 – Inspect

1. Identify the leather and confirm that transparent colour restoration is appropriate.

Step 2 – Clean the Structure

1. Complete the appropriate Leather Doctor® cleaning and rinsing sequence to remove soiling and prepare the leather for colour restoration.
2. Allow the leather to dry naturally before applying Dye 42.

Step 3 – Restore the Colour

1. Apply Saddlery Dye 42 in light, even coats using Leather Brush 1, allowing each application to penetrate before applying the next.
2. Continue building the colour with multiple thin coats until the desired transparent colour depth is achieved.
3. Avoid flooding the leather.

Next Step – Stabilize the Colour

1. Before continuing with structural restoration, apply Saddlery Dye Fix 2.8 (Fix 2.8) to stabilize the penetrating dyestuff and remove any excess colour that has not bonded within the leather.
2. This important step prepares the leather for Hydrator 3.3 by minimizing unwanted colour movement during the structural restoration process.

Step 4 – Replenish the Structure

1. Apply Hydrator 3.3 to redistribute the stabilized penetrating dyestuff uniformly throughout the fiber structure while relaxing the interfibrillary spaces.
2. Then apply Fatliquor 5.0 to replenish the leather's diminishing fat and oil content, restoring uniform internal lubrication throughout the fiber structure.
3. Allow the leather to dry naturally between applications as recommended.

Step 5 – Complete the Restoration

Where appropriate:

• Restore the wax character with Crazy Horse Wax 8.6.
• Seal the restored surface with Topcoat 42 or Topcoat Matte 50.
• Refine the tactile feel with the appropriate Leather Doctor® Conditioner.

• Saddlery Dye 42 restores colour—not structure.
• Always restore the leather internally with Hydrator 3.3 and Fatliquor 5.0 whenever the leather is dry, stiff, or structurally depleted.
• For Crazy Horse and waxed saddlery leather, restore colour first with Dye 42 before replenishing the wax character with Crazy Horse Wax 8.6.
