Leather Doctor® Saddlery Dye 42 is a Leather-Safe™ water-based penetrating dyestuff developed to restore transparent aniline color on aniline vegetable-tanned saddlery leather.
Unlike opaque coating colors, Dye 42 penetrates the leather to restore transparent color while helping preserve its natural suppleness, grain, tooling detail, and natural appearance.

When To Use

Use Dye 42 when the transparent aniline color:

Has faded from sunlight or natural aging.
Has been diminished by repeated cleaning with alkaline saddle soaps.
Has been reduced by inappropriate alcohol- or solvent-based leather products.

When Not To Use

Do not use Dye 42 when:

Restoring tannin discoloration caused by water exposure. Use Acidifier 2.0 followed by Tannin Fix 2.4 instead.
Opaque color restoration is required.
Covering scars, cracks, or structural damage.
The leather has not been properly cleaned and prepared.
A protective finish is required.
