What Is Protected Leather?
Protected leather is leather finished with a pigmented and/or protective surface coating.
The finish provides the leather with:

Urine Contamination Is More Than an Odor Problem

Urine may travel through seams, perforations, worn areas, cushion joints, or other openings.
In this situation, the visible stain may not represent the full extent of the contamination.
Deep Contamination
If urine passes through the leather and enters:

- Backing materials
- Internal upholstery structures
the problem becomes larger than a leather-surface treatment.
A leather treatment cannot be expected to remove contamination originating deep inside cushion foam.
If odor remains after appropriate leather treatment, the remaining source may be below the leather.
Diagnose deeper before applying more product.
The Importance of Seams and Cushion Gaps
On sofas and chairs, seams and cushion gaps can become collection points.
Urine does not necessarily remain where it first lands.
Gravity and the construction of the furniture can direct liquid toward:

Test the condition where the problem exists—not only where the leather looks untouched.
Why Previous Cleaning Matters
A urine stain that has already been treated with household products may no longer represent the original condition.
Always determine what has already been applied.
Previous products may include:

- Conditioners

No routine rinse is required after Anti-Urine 4.5.
Allow the treatment to remain in contact and air-dry naturally for 24 hours.
For households with cats, a clean, slightly damp cloth may be used after the 24-hour drying period before returning the furniture to pet contact.
This wipe is solely a pet-safety precaution. It is not a leather-rinsing step and is not required for the leather treatment itself.

Urine 1.5 is a low-pH cleaner formulated to:

It prepares the leather for the subsequent Urine 2.1 treatment.
Urine 1.5 → Urine 2.1
This is a different treatment pathway from Anti-Urine 4.5.
Urine 2.1 — Progressive Urine Treatment
Urine 2.1 uses Acetic Acid at pH 2.1 as part of its urine-treatment chemistry.
It provides a broader treatment option for urine contamination and can also be used progressively on protected leather when established yellowing requires further corrective treatment.
For yellowing on protected leather, treatment can begin at 1/3 strength and progress toward full strength as appropriate, with the leather evaluated between stages.
Urine 2.1 does not contain a bleaching ingredient.
Its progressive corrective action is based on its different formulation, concentration, and acidic treatment chemistry—not bleaching.
Anti-Urine 4.5 and Urine 2.1 therefore have different roles.
Urine 1.0 — Urine-Burn Corrective Treatment

Urine-burned, darkened, or severely altered leather.

When Not to Use Anti-Urine 4.5

- Nubuck
- Pure aniline leather
- Other absorbent or unfinished leather
unless compatibility has first been established through appropriate testing and the material-specific treatment procedure.

A Note About Households With Cats
Protected Leather Anti-Urine 4.5 contains botanical components including Tea Tree and Eucalyptus.
Keep cats away from the treated area during application and throughout the 24-hour drying period.
Once the treated area is completely dry, perform the recommended damp-cloth safety wipe before allowing the cat back onto the treated surface.
This wipe is solely a pet-safety precaution. It is not a leather-rinsing step.
