Bicast Leather Sticky Care System™ (B2 → B3 → B7)
Bicast leather stickiness is a progressive condition, not a one-time problem.
Leather Doctor® solves it through a 3-level modular system, based on severity:
Level 1 – Prevention & Early Stickiness
B2 Cleaning System
Level 2 – Active Deterioration
B3 Degreasing System
Level 3 – Structural Breakdown (Hydrolysis)
B7 Refinishing System
How the System Works (Cycle of Care)
B2 maintains → prevents buildup
B3 corrects → stops deterioration
B7 restores → rebuilds structure
Then returns to:
B2 for maintenance
Key Understanding (Very Important Positioning)
Sticky Bicast is not dirt — it is polyurethane failure.
Each system targets a different stage:
| Condition | Feel | Required System |
|---|---|---|
| Light tackiness | Slight drag | B2 |
| Noticeable stickiness | Grippy / dull | B3 |
| Soft / spongy / gummy | Surface deforms | B7 |

- 2️⃣ How to Choose the Right Bicast Leather Repair Kit?
- 3️⃣ Why Some Sticky Leather Repairs Fail (And How to Avoid It)?
Bicast Leather Sticky Refinishing Kit B7
Kit B7 is designed for structural failure of the polyurethane layer.
✅ When to Use:
- Soft, spongy, or “melting” feel
- Persistent stickiness after B3
- Visible surface breakdown
✅ What It Does:
- Removes deteriorated PU layer
- Rebuilds a new crosslinked topcoat
- Restores a dry, durable finish
Kit B7: 6-Step Refinishing System
Step 1 – Degreaser 2.2
Degrease oil and sweat.
Step 2 – Rinse 3.0
Rinse oil and sweat.
Step 3 – Acidifier 2.0
Stabilize stickiness
Step 4 – Buffer 3
Mechanical Removal (CRITICAL)
Buffer 3 removes unstable topcoat
✅ Must produce white powder residue
✅ Prevents failure of new coating
Step 5 – Gloss 76 + Crosslinker 64
Refinishing rebuilds new coating
Step 6 – Conditioning B
Ensures non-stick performance
Post-Restoration Maintenance Cycle
After B7 restoration:
Return to B2 Cleaning System
This prevents recurrence and extends lifespan.
Bicast Leather Sticky Refinishing (Kit B7) by Leather Doctor®
Kit B7 is a complete professional system designed to degrease, pH balance, mechanically remove deteriorating urethane, crosslink, refinish, and condition Bicast leather.
It restores a dry, smooth, non-sticky finish while preventing future tackiness.
What is Bicast Leather?
Bicast leather (Bycast leather) is a split suede base coated with a polyurethane (PU) film and embossed with a uniform texture.
It offers:
- Consistent appearance
- Easy maintenance
- Lower cost than top-grain leather
However, the polyurethane surface is chemically sensitive and prone to deterioration.
Why Bicast Leather Becomes Sticky
Stickiness is not surface dirt — it is polyurethane breakdown (hydrolysis + contamination).
Common causes:
- Body oils and sweat → penetrate and soften the PU film
- Alkaline cleaners → swell and weaken the coating
- Humidity and environmental exposure → accelerate degradation
Typical Symptoms
- Rubbery or tacky feel
- Clothing sticking to seating areas
- Fabric imprint transfer
- “Tape-like” sound when sitting or rising
Why Kit B7 Works (What Makes It Different)
Unlike surface cleaners, Kit B7 addresses these failure layers:
- Degreasing – degrease embedded oils.
- Rinsing – rinse oils and debris
- Acidifying – stabilizes chemical structure
- Buffing – mechanical removal of deteriorating PU layer
- Crosslinked Refinishing – rebuilds a stable, non-sticky surface
- Conditioning – reduces stickiness
Critical Success Factor – Buffer 3 (New Improvement)
Sticky Bicast cannot be fixed by coating alone.
Buffer 3 is essential to:
- Remove the deteriorating topcoat as fine white powder
- Prevent unstable PU from remaining beneath the new coating
- Create a clean, receptive surface for adhesion
Professional Tip:
Continue buffing until residue remains light/whitish.
If it turns darker, you are reaching the color layer — reduce pressure.
This step determines whether the refinishing will succeed or fail.

Excellent Product--Highly Recommend
I've been searching for several years for a solution to my leather couch that became (sticky). I found loads of information online about "sticky" leather due to "sweets" being spilled on it (not helpful). This is the first company I found that clearly explains the problem and offers a solution. After carefully going through the 3 step process, my couch looks practically new! Totally worth the money and time/effort. And the company was also very helpful in answering questions via email and got back to me right away. One note: be sure to have some distilled water as 2 of the products require this to be added.

Great product, sofa is like new!
After about 8 years of use, my Natuzzi sofa became sticky on the seat cushions, to the point where it would transfer fibres from clothing onto the sofa. I tried contacting some local repair outfits and their response was that I would be better off buying a new sofa due to the nature of the bicast leather material. Their quotes for repair were around the $900 mark. Faced with a potentially unusable sofa, I did some research on the internet which led me to Leather Doctor and the Bicast Leather sticky topcoat kit. I placed the order and the kit arrived within days. I followed the preparation process, being careful to remove all of the fibres which were transferred to the sofa using degreaser and the 2000 grit sandpaper once the leather was dry. The acidifier made a huge difference in how the leather felt. No more stickiness! Finally, when the leather was once again dry, the urethane topcoat was applied. Be sure to apply this evenly to avoid streaking. It also darkens the colour of the leather slightly. Once the urethane was dry, the sofa looked nearly new, and the sticky problem solved. Final treatment was the the protector which gave a smooth feel to the leather, and also restores the original leather smell. One kit is enough for one 3-place sofa. I had a 3-place and a 2-place to refinish and the kit was only enough to do the seating surfaces and the fronts of both, but not the backs or the sides. Well worth the investment!
