Leather Doctor® Suede Rinse 4.4

  • Slow-Drying Technical Rinse for Controlled Gel Extraction — pH 4.4
  • The Required Companion for Suede Degreaser 4.4

Leather Doctor® Suede Rinse 4.4 is a slow-drying technical rinse specifically developed to follow Suede Degreaser 4.4.

  • It is not simply a conventional water rinse.
  • Its primary role is to release the spent degreasing gel, mobilize emulsified oils and grease, and facilitate controlled towel extraction.

Together, Suede Degreaser 4.4 + Suede Rinse 4.4 form a complete Suede Degreasing Duo:

The completed degreasing phase leaves the suede ready for the next stage of restoration:

  • Suede Hydrator 3.3 + Suede Fatliquor 5.0 for rejuvenation.
  • Suede Conditioner 3.4 may be used optionally as the final surface-refining step.

What Exactly Is Suede Rinse 4.4 Doing?

After Suede Degreaser 4.4 has loosened and captured body oils, sebum, grease, and other oily contamination, the spent gel and lifted contamination must be removed from the suede.

  • Suede Rinse 4.4 provides the controlled liquid phase needed to complete that extraction.

It helps:

  • Release the spent degreasing gel.
  • Mobilize emulsified oils and grease.
  • Remove residual degreasing material.
  • Facilitate controlled towel extraction.
  • Keep the towel sufficiently moist for controlled wiping.
  • Provide additional working time before drying.

The result is a controlled transition from:

Degreasing → Extraction → Rejuvenation

Why Is Suede Rinse 4.4 Required After Suede Degreaser 4.4?

  • Suede Degreaser 4.4 is intentionally formulated as a controlled high-viscosity gel.
  • This format helps keep the degreasing action concentrated while minimizing excessive penetration into absorbent Suede and Nubuck.

Once the contamination has been captured and emulsified, however, the spent gel must be removed.

This is the specific role of Suede Rinse 4.4.

  • Suede Rinse 4.4 is not an optional afterthought.
  • It is the extraction partner that completes Suede Degreaser 4.4.

The Suede Degreasing Duo

Step 1 — Suede Degreaser 4.4

  • Captures & Emulsifies

Targets:

  • Sebum
  • Body oils
  • Grease
  • Oily stains
  • Leather dressings
  • Other oily contamination

↓

Step 2 — Suede Rinse 4.4

  • Releases & Extracts

Removes:

  • Spent gel
  • Emulsified oils
  • Lifted grease
  • Residual degreasing material

↓

Step 3 — Suede Hydrator 3.3

  • Prepares for Rejuvenation

↓

Step 4 — Suede Fatliquor 5.0

  • Replenishes Internal Lubrication

↓

Step 5 — Suede Conditioner 3.4

  • Optional Surface Refinement

Why Is More Suede Rinse 4.4 Used?

  • The two products perform different jobs and therefore are not normally consumed in equal quantities.

A practical working ratio is approximately:

1 : 2–3

1 part Suede Degreaser 4.4
2–3 parts Suede Rinse 4.4

This is a working-consumption ratio, not a dilution ratio.

The gel remains concentrated where applied, while the rinse is progressively consumed during extraction because it is used to:

  • Wet the towel.
  • Release the spent gel.
  • Extract emulsified oils and grease.
  • Keep the towel moving smoothly.
  • Replace contaminated towel sections.
  • Perform additional extraction passes when necessary.

Therefore, using approximately two to three times more rinse than gel is a normal part of the process.

Leather-Safe™ pH 4.4

  • Suede Rinse 4.4 is calibrated to pH 4.4 to match Suede Degreaser 4.4.

The matched pH provides a controlled transition between the degreasing and extraction stages without introducing a large pH change during the process.

  • This is particularly important when working with absorbent suede and nubuck, where uncontrolled wetting and drying can contribute to uneven appearance.

Slow-Drying Technical Design

  • Suede Rinse 4.4 is designed with a slower drying profile to provide additional working time for controlled extraction.

This allows the technician to:

  • Re-wet the towel as necessary.
  • Move to a clean towel section.
  • Perform additional extraction passes.
  • Even out localized moisture.
  • Complete the extraction without rushing.

The objective is controlled extraction rather than flash drying.

How To Apply

Step 1 — Apply Suede Degreaser 4.4

  1. Apply Suede Degreaser 4.4 to the contaminated area or to a clean Microfiber Towel 3.
  2. Work gently with a suitable soft-bristled Brush 1 or clean white towel.
  3. Allow approximately 1–2 minutes of dwell time.
  4. Do not allow the gel to dry completely.

Step 2 — Apply Suede Rinse 4.4

  1. Apply Suede Rinse 4.4 to a clean Microfiber Towel 3.
  2. Do not unnecessarily flood the suede directly.
  3. The towel should be sufficiently moistened to perform controlled extraction.

Step 3 — Release & Extract

  1. Wipe the treated area using controlled linear or cross-hatch passes.
  2. As the spent gel and contamination transfer to the towel, move to a clean section.
  3. Continue until the spent gel and lifted contamination have been effectively extracted.
  4. Additional passes may be performed as necessary.

Step 4 — Dry Naturally

  1. Allow the suede to dry naturally.
  2. Do not rush the drying process.
  3. Once completely dry and equilibrated, inspect the result before proceeding to the next restoration stage.

Ready for Rejuvenation

  • Suede Rinse 4.4 completes the degreasing and extraction phase.
  • It does not replenish the leather.

After significant degreasing, proceed as required with:

Suede Hydrator 3.3

Rehydrates and relaxes the suede fiber structure.

↓

Suede Fatliquor 5.0

Replenishes the leather's internal lubrication to restore softness, suppleness, and flexibility.

↓

Suede Conditioner 3.4 — Optional

Provides an additional surface-conditioning and refining step when desired.

Professional Tip

Think of the two degreasing products as one system:

Suede Degreaser 4.4 captures.
Suede Rinse 4.4 releases and extracts.

Do not treat Suede Rinse 4.4 as a generic rinse.

Its primary purpose is to complete the extraction initiated by Suede Degreaser 4.4.
