Leather Doctor® Suede Dye Stain Remover 3.5 is a professionally formulated, low-surfactant gel designed specifically for suede, nubuck, and roughout leather.
Instead of relying on aggressive scrubbing, Dye 3.5 uses controlled chemistry, controlled moisture, extended dwell, and absorbent towel extraction to help move foreign dye transfer out of the leather.
The principle is simple:
Loosen → Dwell → Wick → Transfer
Don't push the dye deeper. Give it somewhere to go.
Designed Specifically for Suede
Suede requires a different approach from smooth finished leather.
Its exposed fiber structure is highly absorbent and can be easily disturbed by excessive moisture, aggressive rubbing, or unsuitable cleaning chemistry.
Dye 3.5 is designed to provide controlled dye-transfer removal while minimizing unnecessary mechanical stress on the nap.

Dye 3.5 is designed to work through Leather Doctor® Reverse Transfer™ Technology.
The process loosens and suspends foreign dye, then uses an absorbent Towel 5 as the receiving and wicking medium.
The working pathway:
Suede → suspended dye → moisture → Towel 5
The chemistry helps make the dye mobile.
The towel gives the dye somewhere to go.
Why Towel 5?
Towel 5 is not simply a wiping cloth.
During Reverse Transfer™, the absorbent towel provides a destination for suspended dye and contaminated moisture.
For localized treatments, Towel 5 can be cut to the appropriate size to maintain close, even contact with the treated suede.
When necessary, a clean towel section can be rotated into the working area or the receiving towel can be replaced to provide fresh absorbent capacity.
Why the Extended Dwell?
Stubborn dye transfer often requires more than a quick wipe
Once the foreign dye has been loosened and suspended, time provides an opportunity for migration and absorption.
Recommended dwell:
Minimum: 12 hours
Preferred: 12–24 hours
The objective is to allow the suspended dye to migrate toward the absorbent receiving towel rather than relying on aggressive rubbing.
More dwell → more opportunity for migration.
More rubbing → more mechanical stress.
Keep the Towel in Close Contact
During the extended dwell, food cling film can be used over the wet Towel 5.
The cling film helps maintain close, even contact between the receiving towel and the treated suede and helps prevent the towel from shifting, slipping, or falling away from curved or vertical surfaces.
Important:
Towel 5 absorbs the dye.
Cling film maintains contact.
The cling film is not the absorbing medium.

Suede → Dye 3.5 → wet Towel 5 → cling film

Not Every Dark Mark Is Dye Transfer
Dye 3.5 is designed primarily for foreign transferred color.
A blue or dark discoloration may instead be:
- Deeply migrated dye
- Soil combined with dye
- Original dye instability
- Loss of the original leather color
- Chemical alteration of the original color
Dye-removal treatment cannot restore original leather color that has already been lost or altered.
Always test a hidden area first.
If the original suede color begins transferring to the towel, stop and reassess.

Dye removal is only the correction stage.
