Remove the Growth — Prepare for Control
Mold growth must be removed before it can be properly neutralized.
✨ What Mold Cleaner 1.5 Does
Mold Cleaner 1.5 removes mold growth from the leather surface, preparing it for effective treatment and odor control.
Low pH Advantage (pH 1.5)
Mold Cleaner 1.5 is formulated at a low pH of 1.5, providing two key benefits:
1. Creates a hostile environment for mold
The acidic environment inhibits mold activity and reduces the likelihood of immediate regrowth following cleaning.
2. Supports leather structural stability
Low pH conditions help maintain the integrity of the leather’s protein fiber structure by supporting ionic interactions with the tanning agents. This contributes to a more stable material environment that is less favorable to mold development.
2-LAYER EXPLANATION
Core:
Removes visible mold contamination.
Deeper:
Mold growth on leather forms as colonies feeding on organic matter such as oils, dirt, and environmental residues.
Mold 1.5 safely loosens and removes these colonies without damaging the leather structure.
⚠️ IMPORTANT DISTINCTION
Removing mold does NOT kill spores completely.
Mold roots and spores can remain active after cleaning
SYSTEM FLOW
Mold Cleaner 1.5 → Rinse → Hydrate → Fatliquor → Mold Odor Killer 3.6
FINAL MOLD PROTECTION
Once cleaning, rinsing, hydrating, fatliquoring, and drying are complete, apply Mold Odor Killer 3.6 as the final fungicidal treatment.
WHY THIS ORDER WORKS
Mold thrives in:
- residual contamination
- moisture imbalance
- unstable internal structure
WHEN TO USE
✔ visible mold growth
✔ white, green, or black spotting
✔ surface fungal contamination
CORE MESSAGE
Remove the mold before you neutralize it.
SECONDARY DEGREASING (ADVANCED — HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)
In cases where excessive oil or conditioning buildup is visible—
Especially around stitching holes, seams, and deep grooves—
A secondary degreasing step is recommended.
Why This Matters
Traditional stuffing oils and conditioning residues can accumulate in recessed areas of saddlery leather.
These residues:
- trap moisture
- attract contaminants
- act as a food source for mold growth
Even after mold is removed, these areas can promote recurrence if not addressed.
ADDITIONAL SYSTEM STEP
After Mold Cleaner 1.5:
Degreaser 2.2 → Rinse 3.0
Then proceed with:
Hydrator 3.3 → Fatliquor 5.0 → Mold Odor Killer 3.6
REFINED FULL SYSTEM FLOW (ADVANCED CASE)
Mold Cleaner 1.5 → (if needed) Degreaser 2.2 → Rinse 3.0 → Hydrator 3.3 → Fatliquor 5.0 → Mold Odor Killer 3.6
KEY PRINCIPLE
Reducing the food source reduces the likelihood of mold returning.
⚠️ WHEN TO INCLUDE THIS STEP
✔ visible oil buildup
✔ darkened stitching lines
✔ greasy feel in seams or tooling
✔ recurring mold in the same areas
WHY THIS IS A BIG UPGRADE
Without this step:
❌ mold returns in hidden areas
❌ treatment feels temporary
With this step:
✔ removes hidden contamination
✔ reduces nutrient source
✔ improves long-term stability
