After leather has been restored, replenished and refined, some applications benefit from a durable finish that resists everyday wear while preserving the authentic waxy appearance.

Unlike surface dressings, TopCoat 50 forms a flexible finishing film that helps stabilize dyes, improve abrasion resistance and preserve the restored appearance during everyday service.

What Saddlery Matte Topcoat 50 Does

• Seals restored leather with a durable matte waxy-finish topcoat.

• Following restoration through the Leather Doctor® Saddlery Wax Route, Matte 50 forms a flexible urethane finish that locks in the restored appearance while maintaining the leather's natural matte elegance, waxy feel and pull-up character.
• It helps resist abrasion, friction wear, oxidation, moisture penetration and dye migration without creating an artificial glossy appearance.

Unlike Conditioner Wax 9.6, Matte 50 is a true protective topcoat that seals the restored surface for increased durability.

How To Use

Step 1 — Mix

1. Dilute the concentrate with distilled water at 1:3.

Step 2 — Inspect

1. Inspect the leather carefully for embedded stains, darkened areas or surface defects that could telegraph through the finish.
2. Correct these conditions before coating.
3. Where required, use appropriate mechanical techniques such as gentle stretching, controlled deep stretching, brushing, erasing or Razor 60 shaving.

Step 3 — Apply the First Coat

1. Apply the first coat evenly using a clean folded lint-free towel.
2. This promotes adhesion while removing any remaining surface residue.

Step 4 — Build the Finish

1. Apply additional coats using a foam brush, soft varnishing brush or airbrush.
2. Allow each coat to dry thoroughly.
3. For premium refinishing, lightly sand between coats using 1000–2000 grit abrasive to refine the finish.

Step 5 — Cure

1. Allow the final coat to cure overnight before placing the leather back into service.
