Saddlery Leather Rinse 4.4
- Slow-Drying Technical Rinse for Controlled Extraction After Gel Degreasing — pH 4.4
- The Companion Extraction Rinse for Saddlery Leather Gel Degreaser 4.4
Leather Doctor® Saddlery Leather Rinse 4.4 is specifically developed as the Step 2 companion to Saddlery Leather Gel Degreaser 4.4.
- Its purpose is not simply to rinse the leather with water.
- It helps release the spent degreasing gel, mobilize emulsified oil and grease, and facilitate controlled extraction with a clean towel.
Why Is Saddlery Leather Rinse 4.4 Different?
Saddlery Leather Gel Degreaser 4.4 is intentionally concentrated as a gel so that its cleaning action remains controlled on absorbent leather.
- Once the gel has captured the unwanted oil, it must be removed.
- Saddlery Leather Rinse 4.4 provides the working liquid needed for this extraction stage.
It helps:
- Release the spent gel.
- Mobilize emulsified oil and grease.
- Remove residual cleaning material.
- Keep the towel sufficiently moist for controlled extraction.
- Provide additional working time during the wiping process.
- Prepare the leather for the next restoration stage.
Slow-Drying Technical Design:
The rinse has a slower drying profile than a rapidly evaporating solvent-based rinse.
This provides more working time for the technician to:
- Extract thoroughly.
- Change to clean sections of the towel.
- Even out localized moisture.
- Complete the treatment without rushing.
The purpose is controlled extraction rather than flash drying.
Leather-Safe™ pH 4.4
- Saddlery Leather Rinse 4.4 is calibrated to pH 4.4, matching its companion Gel Degreaser 4.4.
- Maintaining a closely matched pH provides a more controlled transition between the degreasing and extraction stages.

Why Is More Rinse Used?
The practical consumption of the two products is not equal.
Approximately 1 : 2–3
1 part Gel Degreaser 4.4
2–3 parts Leather Rinse 4.4
The gel is concentrated and remains in place.
The rinse, however, is used repeatedly during extraction.
It is consumed through:
- Towel wetting
- Release of the spent gel
- Removal of emulsified contamination
- Multiple extraction passes
- Re-wetting the towel as it becomes loaded or dry
Therefore, using more rinse than gel is an expected part of the system—not an indication that the rinse is less concentrated or less effective.
How To Apply
Step 1 — Apply Gel Degreaser 4.4
- Work Degreaser 4.4 into the contaminated area with a soft Leather Brush 1.
- Allow approximately 1–2 minutes of dwell time.
Step 2 — Apply Leather Rinse 4.4
- Apply Rinse 4.4 to a clean Microfiber Towel 3.
- Avoid unnecessarily flooding the leather.
Step 3 — Extract
- Wipe the treated area using controlled linear or cross-hatch passes.
- As the gel is released, change to a clean section of the towel.
- Continue until the spent gel and lifted contamination have been effectively extracted.
Step 4 — Dry Naturally
- Allow the leather to dry naturally.
- Once dry and equilibrated, continue with the next restoration stage as required.
Professional Tip
Think of the two products as one degreasing system:
- Gel Degreaser 4.4 captures.
- Leather Rinse 4.4 releases and extracts.
The practical consumption ratio is approximately:
1 : 2–3
not because the products are used at equal strength, but because extraction naturally requires more working liquid than capture.
