Nappa Auto Leather Gel Degreaser 7.5 is designed to target and extract sebum, body oil, sweat, grease, and oily leather-care residue from finished automotive leather.
The controlled gel texture allows localized application without unnecessarily flooding the leather.
For the complete cleaning process, use Degreaser 7.5 together with Nappa Auto Leather Soft Rinse 5.0.
The Degreaser 7.5 + Soft Rinse 5.0 Module
Degrease → Rinse → Dry → Inspect
Step 1 — Degreaser 7.5
Target and emulsify oily contamination.
↓
Step 2 — Soft Rinse 5.0
Remove remaining cleaning residue.
↓
Step 3 — Dry
Allow the leather to dry naturally.
↓
Step 4 — Inspect
Determine whether further cleaning, conditioning, or restoration is required.
This module separates contamination removal from rinsing, allowing the leather to be properly evaluated before any subsequent care product is applied.
Before You Begin

Remove loose dirt, dust, and debris with a vacuum or soft brush.

Identify the contaminated area.

Determine whether the leather is finished/protected.

Test Degreaser 7.5 in an inconspicuous area.

Allow the test area to dry completely before evaluating the result.

Protect adjacent materials that may be sensitive to moisture or cleaning chemistry.
Important
Do not assume that all automotive leather is chemically or physically identical.
Nappa, Merino, Windsor, coated leather, perforated leather, ventilated leather, and other automotive materials may have different finishes and constructions.
Always test first.
Step 1 — Prepare Degreaser 7.5
Turn the twist-top cap to the open position.
Work with a small quantity at a time.
Do not flood the leather.
The gel is designed for controlled, localized application.
Step 2 — Apply
Place a small amount of Degreaser 7.5 onto:

Leather Brush 1, or
-
Microfiber Towel 2
For localized contamination, apply the product to the brush or towel rather than pouring it directly onto the leather.
This provides better control around:

Step 3 — Gently Agitate
Work the gel into the contaminated area using light, controlled strokes.
Allow the surfactants to loosen and emulsify the oily contamination.
Use only enough mechanical action to work the product into the surface.
Do Not:

Scrub aggressively
-
Use excessive pressure
-
Saturate the leather
-
Allow the gel to pool
-
Force product into perforations or ventilation holes
The objective is:
Loosen → Emulsify → Extract
not aggressive abrasion.
Step 4 — Extract the Contamination
Immediately wipe away the emulsified contamination using a clean, slightly damp Microfiber Towel 2.
Turn to a clean section of the towel frequently.
This prevents removed oil and soil from being redistributed across the leather.
For heavily contaminated areas, repeat the application rather than increasing friction.
Visual Check
As you work, observe the towel.
Dark or greasy transfer indicates that contamination is being extracted from the surface.
Continue until the towel shows substantially less contamination and the surface appears evenly cleaned.
Step 5 — Rinse with Soft Rinse 5.0
The Second Step of the Cleaning Module
After Degreaser 7.5 has been extracted, follow with:

Soft Rinse 5.0 helps remove remaining cleaning residue from the treated surface.
Apply Soft Rinse 5.0 with a clean Microfiber Towel 2.
Work evenly across the treated area without flooding the leather.
Pay particular attention to areas where cleaning product may remain around:

Texture

Panel edges
Wipe away the rinse residue with a clean towel.
Why Rinse?
The degreasing step is designed to remove oily contamination.
The rinse step is designed to remove remaining cleaning chemistry and emulsified residue.
Keeping these functions separate provides better control over the cleaning process.
Step 6 — Dry Naturally
Allow the treated leather to dry naturally at normal room temperature.
Avoid:

Direct heat
-
Heat guns
-
Hair dryers
-
Strong sunlight
-
Rapid forced drying
Do not apply conditioner or other finishing products while the surface is still visibly damp.
Step 7 — Inspect Before Conditioning
Once completely dry, inspect the leather under good lighting.
Look for:

Remaining oily film
-
Remaining darkened areas
-
Sticky areas
-
Uneven gloss
-
Changes in surface texture
-
Remaining contamination
-
Permanent finish wear
Ask:
Did the original matte appearance return?
If yes, the shine was likely being contributed substantially by surface contamination.
If the shine remains after thorough cleaning and drying, the cause may instead include:

Surface polishing from friction

Finish wear
-
Abrasion
-
Permanent changes to the OEM coating
Do not automatically refinish the leather simply because it remains shiny.
Step 8 — Repeat Only if Necessary
If oily contamination remains, repeat the Degreaser 7.5 → Soft Rinse 5.0 module.
Use a controlled second application rather than increasing pressure or using excessive product.
Allow the leather to dry and inspect again.
Step 9 — Condition Only When Required
Once the leather is clean and completely dry, determine whether conditioning is actually required.
Degreasing and conditioning are different processes.
Degreaser 7.5
Removes contamination.
Soft Rinse 5.0
Removes remaining cleaning residue.
Conditioner
Addresses the condition of the leather.
Choose the appropriate Leather Doctor conditioning or restoration product according to the leather's actual condition.
Do not apply conditioner simply because the leather has been cleaned.
High-Contact Areas
Degreaser 7.5 is particularly useful for localized contamination on:
Headrests
Hair and scalp oils can accumulate and create dark or shiny areas.
Armrests
Repeated contact with hands and arms can leave an oily surface film.
Seat Bolsters
Body oils, sweat, and clothing contact can gradually create localized buildup.

Frequent hand contact can produce greasy or sticky contamination.
Door Panels

Repeated handling can produce concentrated greasy residue.
Perforated & Ventilated Leather
The gel format provides additional application control, but perforated and ventilated leather still requires care.
Always:
