Why Oil-Treated Leather Becomes Unstable
Traditional stuffing oils and waxes accumulate within the leather structure,
Often in excess, leading to instability and uneven behavior.
Over time, this creates:
- uneven absorption
- darkened areas
- recurring surface bloom (spew)
Temperature changes can further drive these unbonded oils to the surface.
Correction Logic:
The first step is to remove this excess:
Degreaser 2.2 → Rinse 3.0
Then restore the leather correctly:
Hydrator 3.3 → Fatliquor 5.0
Result:
The leather regains a stable internal structure, reducing recurring issues.
✨ What Y5 Does
Y5 includes the same correction steps as Y3, then continues further to restore moisture, flexibility, and internal strength.
2-LAYER EXPLANATION
1. Restores leather from contamination to full flexibility.
2. Begins with controlled cleaning and pH balancing to remove barriers, followed by hydration and fatliquoring to restore internal lubrication—
finishing with surface refinement for a natural feel.
SYSTEM FLOW
2.2 → 3.0 → 3.3 → 5.0 → B
Degreaser 2.2
Removes oils, residues, and contamination
Rinse 3.0
Balances pH and stabilizes leather
Hydrator 3.3
Reintroduces moisture evenly
Fatliquor 5.0
Restores internal lubrication
Conditioner B
Refines surface feel
Understanding Product Usage
Not all steps use the same amount of product.
Degreaser 2.2 → Rinse 3.0 → Hydrator 3.3 → Fatliquor 5.0 → Conditioner B
1x 2x 2x 1x light
Rinse 3.0 and Hydrator 3.3 require higher volume because they:
- flush and rebalance the leather
- distribute moisture evenly through the structure
The deeper the oil contamination and the drier the leather, the more product is required.
WHEN TO USE Y5
✔ Leather is dry AND contaminated
✔ After long-term oil/wax use
✔ Stiff, dull, or lifeless leather
✔ When Y3 alone is not enough
WHEN NOT TO USE Y5
❌ Light maintenance → use Y4
❌ New leather → use Y2
⚠️ IMPORTANT DISTINCTION
Y3:
Targeted corrective reset
- focused
- localized
- problem-driven
Y5:
Full recovery process
- complete workflow
- structural restoration
- broader application
THE RECOVERY PROCESS
Clean → Balance → Hydrate → Restore → Refine
Y5 → (optional Y7)
HOW TO USE
- Apply Degreaser 2.2 to affected areas and feather out beyond without a drying edge.
- Allow it to break down contamination
- Apply Rinse 3.0 to rebalance
- Apply Hydrator 3.3 evenly
- Allow absorption and dwell
- Apply Fatliquor 5.0
- Let dry naturally
- Finish with Conditioner B

CORE MESSAGE
Restore what the leather has lost.
FAQ
A: Yes. Y5 includes the same Degreaser 2.2 and Rinse 3.0 steps to remove oil, wax, and buildup.
Q: Will this soften stiff leather?
A: Yes. It restores internal lubrication, not just surface feel.
Q: Does this replace conditioners or oils?
A: Yes. It restores leather the way it was originally processed.
