Aniline Wax Pull-up Leather Urine Odor Killer Kit AW5.uk by Leather Doctor® is a Leather-Safe™ system to clean, rinse, pH balance, deodorize, hydrate, soften, and condition wax pull-up urine contamination.

 What is Wax Pull-up Leather?

  • Wax pull-up leather is a high-quality, full-grain leather treated with waxes, designed to lighten in color when stretched, bent, or scratched.
  • This "pull-up" effect creates a unique, rustic, and distressed appearance that develops a rich, fast patina.
  • It is characterized by its soft, flexible, and often two-toned look, frequently used for footwear, bags, and furniture.
Types of Leather Urine Damage Observed

1. Spots and discoloration:
Dark halos or cloudy fatty spew appear on the surface.

2. Persistent Odors:
An odor of ammonia or putrefaction develops, often exacerbated by ambient humidity .

3. Physical deterioration:
Leather can become dry, brittle, or conversely soft and sticky if the tanning agents are rejected by the fiber.

4. Contamination of the upholstery:
On furniture or car seats, urine often passes through the leather (especially if it is perforated) to soak the inner foam, making the odor almost impossible to eliminate without deep treatment.

Why is Urine Harmful to Leather?

Urine contains several components that trigger harmful leather chemical reactions:
  • Uric acid and crystals:
    • As urine dries, it forms uric acid crystals that bind to the leather fibers.
    • These crystals trap odors and can release them again during periods of humidity.
  • pH Imbalance:
    • Leather naturally has an acidic pH (approximately 3.0 to 5.0).
    • Urine, through fermentation, becomes very alkaline (reaching a pH of 10.0).
    • Which damages the protein fibers and can cause the leather to revert to a raw hide state.
  • Ammonia:
    • This decomposition product attacks the protective finishes of leather.
    • Causing cracking, discoloration or a sticky/glutinous appearance.
  • Urochrome:
    • This is the pigment responsible for the yellow coloration that leaves persistent stains.
