Suede Carbon Stain Remover pH 4.6 (Carbon 4.6)
by Leather Doctor®
Carbon 4.6 is a Suede-Safe™ pH 4.6 specialized cleaner engineered to remove carbon-based soiling, including black and grey particulate contamination, from delicate and pH-sensitive suede.
It is specifically formulated to target inorganic particle soiling, not dye-based stains.
Unlike general cleaners, Carbon 4.6 works at a controlled acidic pH to safely break down embedded carbon particles without damaging suede’s open fiber structure.
Key Clarification (Authority Statement)
Carbon stains = particle contamination
Dye stains = colorant transfer (requires Dye 5.6)
Why Carbon 4.6 Works
Suede is highly absorbent and vulnerable to carbon soiling, which penetrates deep into the fiber network.
Carbon 4.6:
- Targets fine carbon particles trapped within suede fibers
- Maintains pH integrity to prevent stiffness or color distortion
- Works within the Leather Doctor® Suede-Safe™ system for complete restoration
Refined Key Benefits
- Removes carbon, soot, and atmospheric soiling
- Targets embedded micro-particles within suede fibers
- Safe for pH-sensitive suede and nubuck
- Prevents fiber stiffness and structural damage
- Designed for professional restoration workflows

Using the wrong cleaner doesn’t just fail — it can set the stain.
Carbon and dye stains require completely different chemistry.

Professional Tip
Carbon stains are particle-based contamination, not surface dirt.
Complete removal requires breaking → suspending → rinsing → reconditioning — which is why Carbon 4.6 performs best as part of the full system.
