Product Overview

Sheepskin Wool Degreaser 5.6 by Leather Doctor® degreases wool traces of lanolin or greasy soiling, keeping it free from yellowing or attracting soiling like a magnet.

Wool Degreaser 5.6 is a pH 5.6 balanced, wool-safe, water-based degreaser formulated to remove traces of lanolin and greasy soiling from sheepskin, woolskin, shearling, hair-on hides, feathers, and taxidermy mounts.

Unlike conventional degreasers, it suspends grease without the need for harsh rinsing. Once emulsified, greasy residues are effectively extracted and then followed by a pH-balancing rinse with Sheepskin Wool Rinse 4.0—preventing reabsorption and avoiding sticky or yellowing residues that attract further soiling.

 Instructions for Use:

 Dilution:
Mix 1 part Degreaser 5.6 with 40 parts distilled water (e.g.,

 Pre-Cleaning Prep:
Inspect the item. Conduct a dry soil removal with vacuuming, brushing, or combing to eliminate loose particles before application.

 Application:
Spray the diluted solution evenly across the affected area. Agitate gently with a wool brush, grooming comb, or slicker brush to distribute.

 Dwell Time:
Allow to dwell for 5 to 30 minutes, depending on the severity of yellowing. Ensure the surface remains damp during dwell—do not let it dry.

 Extraction:
Blot and extract suspended grease and soiling with a clean, dry, absorbent cotton or terry towel. Repeat until the towel comes up clean.

 Rinsing:
Spray Sheepskin Wool Rinse 4.0 evenly and wipe off with a fresh towel until the surface feels squeaky clean. This step neutralizes the pH and prevents residue reabsorption.

 Grooming & Drying:
Groom with a brush or comb and let air dry naturally. Avoid heat drying.

 Non-Stick, Rub-Resistant Conditioning:

Sheepskin Wool Conditioner S is sprayed evenly and brushed with a towel to pick up the soiling residue.

 Final Grooming:
Once fully dried and slightly crispy, groom again to restore the natural loft and bloom of the wool for the best appearance, and it is ready for use.
