Where Restoration Becomes Refinement
After the leather has been restored below the surface, the final step is to refine what is felt and seen above it.
Overview
Saddlery Conditioner B (Conditioner B) is a pH 3.2, non-darkening conditioner designed to refines the surface feel of leather. Reduces friction and enhances tactile smoothness while maintaining a natural, non-coated appearance.
It operates above the leather surface, completing the restoration process after internal treatment has been achieved.
This is the final step after Hydrator 3.3 and Fatliquor 5.0
Below vs Above the Surface
Leather Doctor’s system follows two complementary processes:
Below the Surface — Wet Process
- Degreaser 2.2
- Rinse 3.0
- Hydrator 3.3
- Fatliquor 5.0
Restores structure, moisture, and internal lubrication
Above the Surface — Dry Process
- Conditioner B
Refines feel, grip, and appearance
Restore below the surface. Refine above the surface.
What It Does
- Refines surface feel to a smooth, natural touch
- Helps reduce friction wear from contact use
- Maintains a natural, non-darkening appearance
- Balances grip (not sticky, not slippery)
- Enhances overall saddle presentation
Also suitable for general leather care (furniture, handbags, auto interiors) → View Leather Conditioner B
Where to Use
- Saddle seat
- Panels
- High-contact riding areas
- After full restoration process
When Do You Need Conditioner B?
✔ After Fatliquor 5.0
✔ When leather feels slightly dry on the surface
✔ When a balanced, natural finish is desired
Important Application Principle
Conditioner B refines the surface — it does not replace internal restoration.
- Not a substitute for Fatliquor
- Not for correcting internal dryness
Always complete below-surface treatment first
Instructions
1️⃣ Step 1 — Apply Sparingly
Apply Saddlery Conditioner B (Conditioner B) lightly to the surface.
Use minimal product
2️⃣ Step 2 — Spread Evenly
- Smooth leather → spread evenly for a uniform surface finish
- Grained leather → lightly brush, then spread to ensure full coverage into valleys and peaks
3️⃣ Step 3 — Settle & Refine
Allow the conditioner to settle:
- refines tactile feel
- balances surface response
- enhances natural appearance
4️⃣ Step 4 — Optional Light Buff
If desired:
- lightly buff with a soft cloth
Produces a clean, natural finish
Control Principle
Conditioner B calibrates the surface — where feel, grip, and control are defined.
Expected Results
- Smooth, natural surface feel
- Balanced grip for riding control
- Clean, even appearance
- No darkening or greasy residue
- Refined, ready-to-ride finish
Tactile Calibration — The Final Step
Leather restoration is not complete until the surface feels right.
Conditioner B defines:
- riding comfort
- surface grip
- tactile response
This is where:
restoration becomes usability
Surface Performance (Riding Feel Matters)
Saddle leather must maintain proper balance:
- Too dry → rough and uncomfortable
- Too oily → slippery and unsafe
Conditioner B maintains a controlled, natural grip, supporting rider confidence and control.
