Product Overview

Leather Ink Stain Remover 7.7 by Leather Doctor is designed to break down the grease content of ballpoint ink before addressing the remaining dye component with Dye 7.9.

After successful ink and dye removal within the Leather-Safe™ system, any remaining residue is neutralized, pH balanced, and rinsed with Acidifier 2.0 (pH 2.0). This process restores the leather’s natural pH balance (3-5) without the typical side effects caused by alkaline overexposure, resulting in a healthy, squeaky-clean feel.

How Ink 7.7 Works

Ink 7.7 works through dwell time, allowing its superior penetration, lubrication, and suspension properties to remove ink via the reverse-transfer technique on non-absorbent leathers.

Reverse Transfer Technique:

        1. A stretchable Towel 5 is placed over the ink stain to act as an extension of the leather's surface.
        2. Ink 7.7 is applied with Brush 1, ensuring any air bubbles are squeezed out for optimal contact.
        3. The solution penetrates, lubricates, and suspends the ink stain, which is then wicked into the towel and safely lifted from the leather.
        4. The process is repeated until the ink stain is fully removed and the towel remains clean.

How Dye 7.9 Works

Once the grease component of the ink is removed, Dye 7.9 is used to tackle the remaining dye stain.

Reverse Transfer Technique:

        1. A stretchable Towel 5 is placed over the remaining dye stain.
        2. Dye 7.9 is applied with Brush 1, ensuring tight contact by removing any air bubbles.
        3. The solution penetrates, lubricates, and suspends the dye, allowing it to be wicked into the towel and safely lifted off the leather.
        4. The process is repeated until the dye stain is fully removed and the towel remains clean.

How Acidifier 2.0 Works

        1. Acidifier 2.0 (pH 2.0) functions as a neutralizer, pH balancer, and rinse, restoring the leather’s pH from 7.7 to a healthy range of 3-5.
        2. The transition from an unhealthy sticky feel to a restored, squeaky-clean texture can be physically felt, ensuring the leather's integrity is maintained.

Final Cleaning & Protection

        • Removing Sticky Residue: Any remaining sticky residue should be cleaned with Cleaner 3.8 and rinsed with Rinse 3.0.
        • Preventing Future Ink Stains: Applying Protector B creates a non-stick surface that helps prevent ink from setting into the leather.

By following these steps, ink stains can be safely and effectively removed while maintaining the leather's durability and natural balance.
