Leather Dye Transfer Stain Remover 7.9 is a professional-grade, high-viscosity solution engineered to eliminate dye transfer—such as blue jean stains—without scrubbing or damaging the leather finish.

  • Using an innovative Reverse Transfer™ technique, Dye 7.9 penetrates, suspends, and lifts unwanted dyestuff upward and away from the leather surface—rather than pushing it deeper into the structure.
  • When used sequentially with Soft Cleaner 3.8, Rinse 3.0, and Acidifier 2.0 (pH 2.0), the leather is safely restored to its natural pH range of 3–5—completing the corrective phase of the Leather-Safe™ System.

 Why Choose Dye 7.9?

✅ No Rubbing. No Finish Damage.

  • Removes dye stains gently without risking abrasion or gloss change.

✅ Reverse Transfer™ Technology

  • Suspends and transfers dyestuff upward into an absorbent towel or applicator.

✅ Controlled High-Viscosity Formula

  • Targets concentrated stains while preventing uncontrolled absorption.

✅ Multi-Leather Compatibility

  • Non-absorbent pigmented leather
  • Absorbent aniline leather
  • Highly absorbent nubuck and suede

✅ System-Based Scientific Approach

Removes stains, neutralizes residue, restores pH, and prepares the leather for protection.

How Dye 7.9 Works by Leather Type

1️⃣ Non-Absorbent Pigmented Leather (primary)

Reverse Transfer Method

  1. Place an absorbent paper towel (Towel 5) over the stain.
  2. Apply Dye 7.9 onto the towel to saturate the affected area beneath.
  3. Press gently to eliminate air pockets.
  4. Allow to dwell overnight.
  5. Inspect and repeat if necessary.

Post-Treatment

  • Clean residue with Soft Cleaner 3.8
  • Rinse with Rinse 3.0
  • Restore pH with Acidifier 2.0

2️⃣ Absorbent Aniline Leather (secondary)

  1. Apply Dye 7.9 to a cotton bud or pad.
  2. Lightly agitate the stain.
  3. Observe dye transfer onto the applicator.
  4. Rotate to a clean section and repeat as needed.

Post-Treatment

  • Clean with Soft Cleaner 3.8
  • Rinse with Rinse 3.0
  • Restore pH with Acidifier 2.0

3️⃣ Highly Absorbent Nubuck & Suede (tertiary)

  1. Apply sparingly to an white absorbent applicator.
  2. Use quick, controlled agitation to prevent over-wetting.
  3. Change applicator sections as dye transfers.
  4. Repeat with light applications until satisfactory.

Post-Treatment

  • Clean with Soft 4.5
  • Rinse with Rinse 3.0
  • Restore pH using Acidifier 2.0

Interesting Observation re: dye remover 7.9

Posted by Deontologist on 15th Feb 2026

I was dealing with a sauvage-effect that had a highly visible wear spot where the lighter print color had been removed through use. The leather is an semi-aniline. Ekornes Stressless "paloma" grade leather. The wear spot was on the lower center of the backrest, about where your belt would sit. I'm guessing that prolonged sitting in the chair, combined with the use of a stiff belt, and the pressure, abrasion, and heat of the leather belt against the leather backrest, created that specific wear spot. I applied dye remover 7.9 to the area including the surrounding parts. After letting it dwell for 24 hours, I wiped off the dye remover 7.9, and it evenly stripped the printed color layer and made the chair look beautiful again. The base coat of color remained, and the chair looked wonderfully even in color and tone. The base and print colors on this specific color chair were extremely close in color. Exceedingly close. So close that even with the entire print layer stripped off this area, one would not be able to tell that the chair was touched up, at least not without previous knowledge. It was an interesting "hidden" use of the dye 7.9 for me.
